The McKean County Collaborative Board
The Boards Purpose
Collaboration
The purpose of the Collaborative Board is to promote coordination of services
and involve citizens in improving their community. The Board utilizes
community-based resources and leadership together with health, school, and human
services in developing collaborative projects, improving the way existing services
are delivered to families, and empowering citizens to become actively involved in
their community.
Community Assessment and Planning
Through community assessment, the Collaborative Board identifies local needs and
develops goals and strategies to address those needs. Service strategies are
then put into place to prevent problems, strengthen the family unit, build community
involvement, and improve the health of communities in McKean County. Community
improvement planning is an ongoing process of the Collaborative Board as goals and
strategies are implemented and then monitored for results.
Developing Public Support
Board members help the community at large understand and support the goals of the
Collaborative Board. Members serve as ambassadors to the community or agency in
which they represent and in this way help communicate the vision and purpose of the
Board. The Board also promotes the recognition of youth, parents, and communities
so that they are celebrated for their successes. And finally, the Board helps
disseminate information about resources available to families so that help is
accessible to residents when needed.
Resource Development
Together the Board works to maximize public, private, local, state and federal funding
sources that help create or continue projects sponsored by the Board. Resources such
as in-kind support and volunteerism are also promoted and developed.
